FBI Releases 2008-2009 Facts and Figures Report

Today, the FBI released its 2008-2009 Facts and Figures report titled Today’s FBI: Celebrating a Century of Service. This informative, 60-page pictorial reference book provides an overview of the FBI’s mission, priorities, capabilities, history, and general facts and statistics. This resource is available online for the general public, civic leaders, law enforcement colleagues, community outreach partners, and others with an interest in learning about the FBI. Both a web-based text version and a printable pdf version of the report can be found on

Throughout its 100-year history, the FBI has protected the American people from threats to our way of life. Whether the greatest dangers came from gangsters, public corruption, hate crimes, cyber attacks, white collar fraud, or terrorism, these threats have changed over the decades. And as those threats have evolved, the FBI has changed to meet them head on.

The FBI’s culture emphasizes strong teamwork and collaboration among colleagues, other government agencies, law enforcement partners, and citizens’ organizations. By working together to effectively share important information and intelligence and reduce bureaucratic obstacles, we move closer to our goal of security for all Americans.

—FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III
