Mr. Schiff: Hi. This is “Wanted by the FBI” from the FBI. Authorities want to find Jose Manuel Garcia Guevara. He’s wanted for the February 2008 murder of 26-year-old Wanda Barton at her unit in a trailer park in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Ms. Harbison: “Once he was inside, Guevara attacked Barton. And in the presence of her 4-year-old stepson, he both raped her and stabbed her 16 times, killing her.”

Mr. Schiff: FBI Special Agent Laura Harbison, who says Guevara left Lake Charles on a bus and may be in Mexico.

Ms. Harbison: “ Guevara is a Mexican national. He’s between 5’5” and 5’8” tall. He’s between 150 and 185 pounds.”

Mr. Schiff: He has a letter “J” tattooed on a shoulder and has worked as a laborer.

Ms. Harbison: “He was initially charged with first degree murder. However, that charged was amended to second degree murder for the sole purpose of ensuring that Guevara would be extradited if found and arrested in Mexico.”

Mr. Schiff: Mexican authorities decline extradition if the death penalty may be involved. More information on Guevara at fbi.gov. That’s “Wanted by the FBI” for this week. I’m Neal Schiff of the Bureau’s Office of Public Affairs.
