Overall, the number of males arrested in 2009 declined 4.9 percent, but the number of females arrested rose 11.4 percent when compared with data for 2000.
The number of male juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested dropped 22.9 percent and the number of female juveniles arrested decreased 13.1 percent when data for 2009 were compared with statistics for 2000.
A comparison of data for 2009 and 2000 showed that the number of males arrested for violent crimes in 2009 decreased 8.1 percent from the number arrested in 2000, but the number of females arrested for violent crimes increased 0.1 percent.
Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes declined in both genders in 2009 when compared with data for 2000. The number of arrests of male juveniles decreased 14.5 percent, and the number of arrests of female juveniles decreased 16.9 percent.
A comparison of data for 2009 and 2000 showed that the number of males arrested for property crimes in 2009 declined 3.9 percent from the number arrested in 2000, but the number of females arrested for property crimes rose 33.2 percent.
Arrests of male juveniles for property crimes decreased 29.2 percent, but arrests of female juveniles for property crimes increased 0.1 percent when data for 2009 were compared with data for 2000.
