When compared with figures from 2004, the number of males arrested in 2008 increased 0.6 percent, and the number of females arrested rose 5.1 percent.
The number of male juveniles (those under age 18) arrested in 2008 declined 3.4 percent when compared to the 2004 data. Arrests of female juveniles declined 3.9 percent.
Arrests of males for violent crimes increased 1.0 percent, and the number of females arrested for these offenses rose 3.7 percent when comparing data for 2004 and 2008.
The number of male juveniles arrested for violent crimes increased 6.6 percent, and the number of female juveniles arrested declined 4.4 percent.
The number of males arrested for robbery rose 21.4 percent, and for females, the number of arrests for this offense rose 27.6 percent.
Arrests of male juveniles for robbery increased 46.4 percent and arrests of female juveniles for robbery increased 39.4 percent in 2008 when compared to 2004 data.
The number of males arrested for property crimes increased 0.3 percent and for females, the number of arrests increased 14.1 percent.
In 2008, arrests of male juveniles for property crimes declined 5.2 percent, and arrests of female juveniles for property crimes increased 4.2 percent when compared to the 2004 numbers.
