The number of persons arrested in 2008 increased 1.7 percent overall when compared with arrest data for 2004. The number of juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested decreased 3.5 percent, and the number of adults arrested increased 2.7 percent.
The number of persons arrested for violent crimes in 2008 increased 1.5 percent when compared to the 2004 data. Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes rose 4.5 percent, and arrests of adults increased 0.9 percent.
Arrests of persons for property crimes increased 4.8 percent in 2008 over the number of persons arrested for property crimes in 2004. Arrests of juveniles for property crimes decreased 2.0 percent, and arrests of adults increased 7.4 percent.
In 2008, the number of arrests for robbery increased 22.1 percent over the 2004 level. The number of juveniles arrested for this offense rose 45.8 percent, and the number of adults arrested increased 15.4 percent.
Arrests of persons for motor vehicle theft in 2008 declined 29.2 percent when compared to the number of arrests made for this offense in 2004. Arrests of juveniles for motor vehicle theft dropped 32.6 percent, and arrests of adults declined 28.0 percent.
