Arrests of males in cities decreased 0.4 percent in 2007 compared with 2006 data; however, arrests of females rose 2.4 percent.
In cities, the number of males under the age of 18 arrested was down 2.1 percent, but the number of females under the age of 18 arrested increased 0.6 percent.
The number of individuals arrested in 2007 for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter increased 2.3 percent for males, but decreased 1.8 percent for females.
The number of males under the age of 18 arrested for motor vehicle theft in the Nation’s cities declined 13.4 percent in 2007 when compared to 2006 data. Similarly, arrests of females under age 18 declined 13.7 percent for the same offense.
The number of males arrested for drug abuse violations decreased 1.0 percent, and the number of females arrested declined 1.3 percent. The number of males under the age of 18 arrested for drug abuse violations increased 1.1 percent, and the number of females under the age of 18 arrested for drug abuse violations increased 0.4 percent.
