  • Of the persons arrested during 2006 in the Nation’s suburban areas, 76.0 percent were white, 22.6 were black, and the remainder were of other races.
  • White individuals made up 67.1 percent of all people arrested for violent crime and 72.6 percent of those arrested for property crime.
  • Among juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested, 73.9 percent were white, as were 55.1 percent of the juveniles arrested for violent crime and 69.8 percent of the juveniles arrested for property crime.
  • During 2006, whites were most often arrested in suburban areas for driving under the influence (434,381) and drug abuse violations (365,791).
  • During 2006, blacks were most frequently arrested for drug abuse violations (121,184) and other (simple) assaults (92,780).
