  • In 2006, 76.0 percent of all people arrested in the Nation’s suburban areas were male.
  • Males accounted for 82.6 percent of all those arrested in 2006 for violent crime and 69.0 percent of the people arrested for property crime.
  • Females were most often arrested for larceny-theft offenses (113,623) and driving under the influence (99,107).
  • Males were most frequently arrested for drug abuse violations (396,315) and driving under the influence (385,800).
