  • Adults (persons age 18 and over) accounted for 91.1 percent of all arrestees in nonmetropolitan counties in 2006.
  • Juveniles accounted for 9.4 percent of all persons arrested in this population group for violent crime and 19.6 percent of those arrested for property crime.
  • Persons between the ages of 18 and 24 accounted for 29.0 percent of all persons arrested in nonmetropolitan counties in 2006.
  • Adults were most often arrested for driving under the influence (148,339 arrests) and for drug abuse violations (86,072 arrests) in this population group.
  • Juveniles were most often arrested for liquor law violations (8,906 arrests) and other (simple) assaults (8,843 arrests) in nonmetropolitan counties.
