  • The 2-year trend showed an increase of less than 1 percent (0.9) in the number of persons arrested in 2006 compared with the number arrested in 2005.
  • The number of juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested in 2006 increased less than 1 percent (0.8) from the previous year.
  • For violent crimes, the number of persons arrested remained virtually unchanged, increasing 0.3 percent, from 2005 to 2006. However, the number of juveniles arrested for violent crimes increased 3.6 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter fell 3.1 percent; the number of juveniles arrested for this offense rose 3.4 percent.
  • For property crimes, the number of adults arrested decreased 5.4 percent, and the number of juveniles arrested declined 5.5 percent.
