Mr. Schiff: It’s the Granddad Bandit. He’s robbing banks. In Atlanta, FBI Special Agent Cynthia Myers is one of many FBI agents and police officers looking for this man who is believed to have robbed 14 banks in 10 states.
Ms. Myers: “Alabama , Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Arkansas, Kansas, New York, Florida, Oklahoma, and Michigan.”
Mr. Schiff: Myers says the bank thief is between 50 and 60.
Ms. Myers: “He is balding on top; he sometimes wears a baseball cap and a polo-type shirt, so he just looks like a regular guy when he walks into the bank.”
Mr. Schiff: Myers says the Granddad Bandit claims he is armed when he makes his demands.
Ms. Myers: “He enters the bank and presents a demand note specifying a certain amount of money and that he is armed with a handgun. He gets the money and puts it into a bag that he brings into the bank and exits the bank on foot.”
See the Granddad Bandit’s picture on the Internet at fbi.gov. I’m Neal Schiff of the Bureau and that’s what’s happening at the “FBI, This Week.”
