Tracy Reinhold Named Assistant Director of the Directorate of Intelligence

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Tracy Reinhold the Bureau’s assistant director of the Directorate of Intelligence. Mr. Reinhold most recently served as the Directorate’s deputy assistant director.

“Intelligence is the lifeblood of our organization; how we gather, analyze, and disseminate it internally and with our intelligence and law enforcement partners is critical to protecting our national security,” said Director Mueller. “Tracy’s leadership and expertise make him well-suited to oversee this crucial function.”

Mr. Reinhold entered on duty as a special agent on May 20, 1990, and was assigned to the Columbia Division, Greenville Resident Agency. He worked all manner of violations, including violent crime, white collar crime, and domestic terrorism. In March 1998, he was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Major Theft/Transportation Crimes Unit in the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters.

In October 2000, Mr. Reinhold was transferred to the Las Vegas Division, where he supervised a violent crimes squad until August 2003. He was then appointed assistant special agent in charge of the Detroit Division. While in Detroit, Mr. Reinhold had program management responsibility for violent crimes, cyber, drugs, and counterterrorism.

In August 2004, he was selected to serve as the special assistant for the executive assistant director, Law Enforcement Services. In December 2005, Director Mueller appointed Mr. Reinhold as the special agent in charge of the Louisville Division. Mr. Reinhold was named the deputy assistant director, Directorate of Intelligence in January 2008.

Mr. Reinhold is a Maryland native and received his early education in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1979-84 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Maryland in 1988.

Mr. Reinhold and his wife, Diane, live in Alexandria, Virginia.
