Elizabeth A. Fries Named Special Agent in Charge of the Louisville Division

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Elizabeth A. Fries special agent in charge of the FBI’s Louisville Division. Ms. Fries most recently served as special assistant to the associate deputy director at FBI Headquarters.

Ms. Fries entered on duty as a special agent with the FBI in October 1991. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, she was assigned to the Indianapolis Division, where she worked a variety of cases, including public corruption and bank fraud investigations. She was later detailed to the Office of the Independent Counsel in Little Rock, Arkansas in support of the Whitewater investigation. In 1998, Ms. Fries transferred to the New York Division, where she worked organized crime matters. 

In 2000, Ms. Fries was promoted to the position of supervisory special agent in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters. She was transferred to the Minneapolis Division in 2002. While there, she had management responsibility for a white collar crime and terrorism financing squad. In February 2005, Ms. Fries was detailed to FBI Headquarters as a special assistant to the FBI’s chief information officer (CIO). In that role, she provided counsel to the CIO on a variety of information technology and business process initiatives. Upon her return to Minneapolis, she was assigned management responsibility for the Field Intelligence Group. While serving in management, she was a member of the Director’s Mid-Level Management Advisory Committee and served on the Executive Board.

Ms. Fries was promoted to the position of assistant special agent in charge of the Miami Division in July 2006, with oversight responsibility for the Administrative Branch and crisis response components. In 2008, Ms. Fries was selected to serve as the special assistant to the associate deputy director, where she provided counsel to the associate deputy director on a variety of policy, technical, budget, and administrative matters.

Prior to her employment with the FBI, Ms. Fries worked with KPMG Peat Marwick. She attended DePaul University in Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
