GEORGE
C. VENIZELOS REPORTS AS SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE
OF THE NEW YORK FIELD OFFICE'S ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION
Washington,
D.C. - Director Robert S. Mueller announced the appointment
of George C. Venizelos, a 15-year veteran of the FBI, as
the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI's New York
Field Office's Administrative Division. In his new role,
SAC Venizelos will lead a diverse team of professionals
covering a region composed of New York City, Long Island,
and the counties of Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange,
Putnam, and Sullivan.
Mr.
Venizelos was appointed an FBI Special Agent in April, 1991,
and assigned to the FBI's Boston Division where he worked
White Collar Crime matters. In August 1997, he was promoted
to Supervisory Special Agent in the Russian Organized Crime
Unit within the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters
in Washington, DC.
In September1999, Mr. Venizelos was named Supervisory Senior
Resident Agent, Harrisburg Resident Agency, in the FBI's
Philadelphia Field Office. His office was responsible for
all FBI programs in the State Capitol of Pennsylvania and
the surrounding eight counties.
In August 2002, Mr. Venizelos was promoted to Assistant
Special Agent in Charge in the Criminal Division of the
FBI's New York Field Office where he managed the Drug program.
In 2003, Mr. Venizelos was designated the Assistant Special
Agent in Charge in the Counterterrorism Division of the
New York Field Office where he managed the Domestic Terrorism
Program and Terrorism Threats to New York City and it's
surrounding territory. During his assignment in New York,
Mr. Venizelos had management responsible for several major
special events to include the 2004 Republican National Convention.
In September 2005, Mr. Venizelos was promoted to FBI Headquarters
as an Inspector where he led inspection teams to FBI Field
offices and overseas Legal Attache offices.
Mr. Venizelos is a graduate of Fordham University in Bronx,
New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Accounting in 1982.
Mr.
Venizelos is married and has three sons and a daughter.
