On August 19, acting on a tip provided to the FBI's Office in Phoenix, Arizona, officers of the South African Police Service arrested two American citizens in Capetown, South Africa who are accused of robbing six banks throughout the American Southwest and Pacific Northwest over the past 6 years. The pair is charged with serial robbery, beginning with a robbery on August 13, 1997, of Norwest Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona, and proceeding through subsequent robberies in Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The two have been featured on the television show America's Most Wanted 6 different times. They have been tracked across the country and the world, to include Belize and British Columbia. Now, thanks to excellent cooperative efforts across the world, they have been arrested and are expected to be extradited from South Africa to answer to warrants in Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Special thanks to: the South African Police Service, the Scottsdale Police Department, the Mesa Police Department, the U.S. Attorney's Office of Arizona, FBI Legal Attaché Offices, and members of the FBI Phoenix Field Division.
