FBI Laboratory Specialized Training Program Student Instructions
The FBI Laboratory Specialized Training Program offers courses in many areas of forensic science. Courses are designed for and open to U.S. law enforcement agencies, government crime laboratories and military personnel. Interested students should review the current Schedule and Course Descriptions to identify courses that best fit their skills, experience, interests, and the needs of their organizations.
The application process includes the following:
Step 1) Mandatory - Complete a Laboratory Specialized Training Program Application
Once the student has completed the Training Application Form included on the Laboratory Training website, select the “Submit” button on the bottom of the form to electronically submit it to the Laboratory Training Group. Applications via fax will not be accepted. Print a copy of the application for your records prior to closing the application.
Please contact the Laboratory Training Group at FBILabTraining@ic.fbi.gov with any questions or if you are experiencing problems with the application process. Applications are accepted throughout the year and selected students are notified approximately 30-45 days prior to the start of each course.
Step 2) Optional - Complete the FBI Virtual Academy (FBIVA) Registration/Enrollment (This step is only required for students who wish to receive FBIVA course credit).
The steps for registering with the FBI’s Virtual Academy can be found by accessing the FBI Virtual Academy internet link or by typing the following URL: https://fbiva.fbiacademy.edu. (FBI employees or those who have access to the FBI intranet must use the FBI Virtual Academy on the classified system).
